The secretion of thyroid hormones (T3, T4) is high in hyperthyroidism. Therefore, we have to choose such food item in the thyroid diet in hyperthyroidism which reduces the effect of thyroid hormone or reduces its production.
1. Cruciferous Veggies :-
Goitrogens element is found in broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower vegetables. Which reduces the effect of thyroid hormone and reduces its secretion rate. But always Eat broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, etc. after boiling it lightly.
2. Leafy vegetables :-
Spinach, mustard greens, radish, and carrot have rich amount of iron, which keeps thyroid balanced by reducing the effect of iodine.
3. Selenium Foods :-
Selenium is a micronutrient that the body needs for the metabolism of thyroid hormones. and Selenium helps to improve symptoms of autoimmune thyroid disease. Food items like Brazil nuts, eggs, tuna fish, shrimp, sunflower seeds, mushrooms, oatmeal etc. are good sources of selenium.
